Whitby Museum is Family Friendly
The Museum welcomes family groups.
For the adventurous try our trail which covers both Whitby Museum and Pannett Park. The trail takes you on a voyage round the Museum and also on a tour of the newly restored Pannett Park. There are simple questions to complete. There is also a separate leaflet about the Jurassic garden in the Park which complements our collection of Jurassic fossils. Ask the museum custodian for either of these 2 free leaflets.
There is something for all ages in our extensive collections. For the younger members of the family there are the toys & dolls and the birds and mammals in the natural history section. All ages can marvel at the large Jurassic reptiles mounted on the walls in the geology area and look at the fossils collected locally. The world culture exhibits are likely to interest the older members of the family.
The Pannett Park Tearoom is open from 10.00 to 4.00 pm from the spring half-term to late autumn, Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive (closed on Sundays). The Tearoom (located in the Museum on the Lower Ground Floor) offers hot & cold drinks, sandwiches, scones, cakes and light refreshments etc. Home baking a speciality. Anyone wishing to use the Tearoom but not wanting to visit the Museum should obtain an appropriate ticket from the custodian
The Museum is equipped with toilets (including disabled toilets) and a lift.
